Welcome

Welcome to the Alternative Constitution Day Blog! Alternative Constitution Day is celebrated on February 3, the date the Fifteenth Amendment -- the last of the Reconstruction Era amendments -- was ratified.

The idea for Alternative Constitution Day grew out of a Constitution Day 2015 blog post by scholars Peggy Cooper Davis, Aderson Francois, and Colin Starger. In 2016, events commemorating the day included discussions and panels at law schools around the country, as well as an online symposium on the Race & Law Prof blog with essays considering a wide range of topics relating to Alternative Constitution Day.

Please stay tuned to this blog for a discussion of events throughout the year relating to Alternative Constitution Day.
